Consistency (not perfection) in nutrition and training is key!

Tuesdays Nutrition Tip: Consistency is key.

Sticking with last nights consistency theme the same goes for nutrition and the food choices you make.

If you know me you will know that I am definitely no saint when it comes to food. Whilst I predominantly follow a paleoish (is that a word?) way of eating I’m certainly not pedantic about it. If I want bread I’ll eat bread, if I feel like inhaling a bag of sour skittles you had better believe I’m going to do it. As for alcohol….well lets not talk about alcohol 😉

So how do I keep the weight off? Well for one I train consistently using principles I learnt from Turbulence Training and in a way that will minimize (not erase) the damage of such foods. But secondly (and more importantly) I consistently eat the right things. I treat myself (and quite often actually) but I never let one or two indiscretions turn into a month of full blown food abuse.

I’d like to think I stick to the 90/10 rule, eating good food 90% of the time but it truth it’s probably more like 80/20 with some weeks sliding into the 70/30 department. However good food always wins out in the end and that is my “secret”

Ultimately life is for living and you shouldn’t deprive yourself of anything. I’d be a hypocrite if I told you otherwise. But…. and this is a big BUT (an so will yours be if you don’t heed this advice). You need to make sure that the majority of your food choices are good ones. That way when you do treat yourself you will know that the damage will be minimal.
